NYSH&TA Committees
NYSH&TA Committees are designed to involve, represent, and serve the
interest of our members. They provide a forum to consider the different
perspectives and objectives within the Association. If you have not already,
consider joining one or more of our committees and make your voice heard.
Members are welcome to attend Committee meetings, Board of Directors meetings,
and meetings of the General Membership.
If you are interested in a specific topic or meeting notes, contact
us.

Allied Member - To discuss promotional concepts, interactive involvement
with the property membership and to secure participation of Allied Members
in the association’s conference.
Annual Conference - Responsible for planning annual meeting.
Communications - Committee objectives are to assist and coordinate
with the association’s Communications Department on local media
releases, editorials, industry promotion and other related areas. (PR
function, Internet, FOCUS.)
Education Foundation - The purpose of the Foundation is to assist
in the educational development of hospitality students by offering scholarships
to member employees and/or their dependents, or school scholarships to
member colleges and universities. Recommend and monitor the financial
investments of donations made directly to the Foundation.
Finance/Audit - Meet with audit company – also review the
association’s budget and recommend financial control changes/improvements
to Executive Committee. (This is a recommended standing committee.)
Legislative - To review and comment on proposed legislation and
to create grassroots support for legislative and regulatory issues that
affect the lodging and tourism industry.
Membership Development - To assist association staff in marketing
to prospective members, telemarketing, direct mail programs and contact
prospective members.
Membership Services - To develop programs/services that reduce
operating costs.
Small Properties - To develop and promote operations, marketing,
legislative, training, and other issues affecting properties with nine
to 75 rooms.
Bed & Breakfast Councils - Council to discuss the special
needs of the Bed & Breakfast industry.
Parks & Attractions Council - Council to discuss the special
needs of the Parks & Attractions industry.
Tourism Educators Council - Council for individuals who are employed
at any institution of learning in New York State offering educational courses
relating to the hospitality and tourism industry. [Educational Committee:
To review topics for our ongoing half-day and full-day seminars and the educational
programs that will be offered during the association’s conferences.]
