Hospitality Education
Foundation

The Fred and Gertrude England Hospitality Education Foundation offers both Professional Development Scholarships and Student Scholarships.

Professional Development Scholarships

The Foundation’s Professional Development Scholarship Program offer scholarships to NYSH&TA member employees for professional development activities. The intent of the program is to provide a scholarship award (50% tuition up to $1,000) to an employee of a NYSH&TA member property, to improve his/her knowledge about any subject to support their efforts of professional development. This scholarship may be used to cover part of the expenses incurred by the employee so that the burden of individual contributions may be lightened, though not necessarily eliminated.

Goal:
It is the goal of the Foundation to have employees choose professional development activities which will benefit both themselves and the member property. Examples of activities that a scholarship can be applied for are: one day courses in computer software applications for staff members; advanced HVAC semester courses given at community colleges; day, week, or certification professional development courses given, at but not limited to, institutions such as the Culinary Institute of America, Cornell, Niagara University, Rochester Institute of Technology or certification courses through the Educational Institute, of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

Eligibility Requirements:
Employees of NYSH&TA members that have been employed for at least a year at that property are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
